First used by finer hotels, the hook less shower curtain is now found in many homes and this site shows you exactly why it has become so popular.
The most common type of the hookless shower curtain uses a split-ring system that is built-in and ready to hang without the hassle of the standard hooks or rings. This is the one we will focus on, although we will talk about another type in a few moments.
You will find a variety of design and color options available for the hookless shower curtain. Since more and more households are switching over to this type of shower curtain, we are sure to see an ever-growing selection of designs and colors in the near future. Good stuff and more to come… it sort of reminds me of being a kid in a candy store!
Quick Installation Guide for the Hookless Shower Curtain. . . Easy As 1-2-3!
These 3 pictures and the basic instructions show you just how easy this really is.
Stand on the outside of the tub (facing toward the tub) and grasp the hookless shower curtain near the top and next to a pair of the split-rings that have the narrow slit in between them.
Gently push the top half of the rings over the rod (rail). The lower half of the rings will follow under the rod. The slits will seem to disappear. Continue this process along the entire length.
When it is installed correctly, the side edges of the hookless shower curtain will face out and the slits will be out of sight behind the rod.
Also, a video in the sidebar shows a good demonstration (even if the video is a bit repetitive).
Beyond Function and Style
Shower curtains have the basic function of protecting the rest of the bathroom from the spray of the shower. Many shower curtains are available in designs and/or colors that allow you to add a decorative touch to the bathroom area. You can even pick a design that lets you express your sense of humor or highlight a hobby or personal interest.
The hookless shower curtain goes beyond function and style because it is so downright convenient. No longer will you have to bother with hooks or rings.
Has the following ever happened to you? You take down the shower curtain (to paint, to move, or whatever) and when you go to put it back, one or two of the hooks or rings seem to be missing? That problem can now be a thing of the past.
The Hookless Shower Curtain Is A Great Idea
When people see how easy and convenient the hookless shower curtain really is, many of them will say something like… “Why didn’t somebody think of this sooner?”
We have no answer for that question except to say we are sure glad we have them now!
Not only the convenience, but also the sturdiness of the hookless shower curtain makes it ideal for anybody with a tub and shower combination or a shower stall without a glass door.
They can be found almost anywhere that sells bathroom accessories. We prefer to get such things online from a trusted source because the selection is better. Most brick and mortar retails stores can only carry a limited selection of designs and/or colors.
Most designs of the hookless shower curtain will be in the same price range as most of the standard shower curtains. Also, you might save a few dollars because you won’t have to have other items such as hooks and rings.
The word ‘hookless’ in the hookless shower curtain we have talked about up to this point is actually a registered trademark. That is why you will sometimes see the word capitalized and followed by an R enclosed within a circle. The Hookless® Flex-on® technology is protected under one or more patents, which means the patent holder has the right to pursue legal recourse in the event a manufacturer might try to make a copy-cat product.
It’s the same with this item or any other type of product – stay away from the copycats and knock-offs because you just can’t be sure of the quality. The original is the best one.
Another Type of Hookless Shower Curtain
As we mentioned earlier, there is another type of hookless shower curtain. Well, actually there are two other types. The first one has tabs or loops sewn on to the main part of the shower curtain. The problem with this one is that you need to remove one end of the rod, or rail as some people call it, to slide this shower curtain into plac
e. The second one also has tabs or loops, but this time one end of the tab or loop goes over the rod and snaps into place on the other side. Or, instead of snaps, it could have Velcro on each part.
It all comes down to a matter of personal preference. However, most people that are aware of the different types of a hookless shower curtain will opt for the type with the built-in split-ring system.
Tips for Using Your Old Shower Curtains
An old shower curtain makes a great drop cloth when you are painting or doing other messy work. Also, an old shower curtain can be used like a tarp to cover the barbecue grill or other outdoor items when they are not in use.
